Michelle Culbertson is a breathtakingly accomplished singer - a lyrical soprano with uncannily inherent vocal and instrumental aptitudes. Alongside her natural gifts, she has consistently challenged her excellence, studying and performing at prestigious venues around the world. A native of the bustlingly creative city of Chicago , Ms. Culbertson is an accomplished violinist, sings in four languages and has honed her craft on material ranging from highbrow Italian operas to heartland American musicals.
For her recording debut, Be Still My Soul (available October 18, 2005), Ms. Culbertson returns to the roots of her artistry - the hymns of the church. Consisting of 15 precious pieces of dynamic spiritual meditation, the repertoire includes standards such as "Amazing Grace" and "How great thou Art," more obscure gems like the title track, as well as three piano interludes by Brian Culbertson - Michelle's husband who accompanies her throughout the CD. Michelle and Brian co-produced and co-arranged the entire program – a collection of sacred music that encompasses a wealth of personal history and global inspirational musical history.
